University of Calgary Scholarships for Indigenous Canadian students

Established in the year 1944, the University of Calgary has grown and developed into a world class institution of higher learning. It is a public research university located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The university has 14 faculties and over 85 research institutes and centers. the University of Calgary is also one of Canada’s top research universities, and has skill professionals. The University accommodates domestic and international students. It also has a number of scholarships and financial aid programs for its students. As an international student that gains entry into the institution, you stand a chance to be given scholarship, and described below are some of them.

Indigenous Careers Award (Fall)

This is provided by the Government of Alberta for undergraduates. It is valued at $4,000.

Award description

  • Offered annually to students enrolled in any undergraduate or professional program. Students enrolled full time in the fall and winter terms are eligible to receive $4,000. Students enrolled full time in the fall OR winter term only are eligible to receive $2,000. Applicants with a documented permanent disability who have completed at least 12.00 units over the previous fall and winter terms at the University of Calgary will also be considered

  • Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident; Alberta resident
  • Academic merit
  • Preference is given to students in their 2nd or 3rd year of studies.

Award description

  • Offered annually to continuing undergraduate students in any faculty who achieved a minimum GPA of 3.20 on all courses (minimum 24.00 units) completed over the previous fall and winter terms at an eligible Alberta post-secondary institution. Recipients must be continuing full-time at an eligible Alberta post-secondary institution in the fall and/or winter term. Alberta Student Aid will send a cheque to the home address of eligible recipients in December for students who applied by September 30.

  • Must not be receiving a Louise McKinney Scholarship in the same award year.
