The London School of Hygiene GSK Scholarship is provided to help build the capacity of African health systems and health-related research, as well as to train and develop the next generation of leaders in global health.
Applicants wishing to enroll in the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine’s (LSHTM) one-year, full-time, face-to-face MSc program in London are eligible.
The GSK scholarship is open to applicants for any of the non-distance learning intensive Masters programs offered by LSHTM (excluding our joint programs: MSc Global Mental Health; MSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing; MSc One Health; MSc Veterinary Epidemiology).
Both the application to study and the scholarship application must be completed by the scholarship deadline.
How to Apply for the London School of Hygiene GSK Scholarship 2024
The goal of the London School of Hygiene GSK Scholarship is to train and develop the next generation of global health leaders while also assisting in the capacity-building of African health systems and health-related research.
Those who would like to apply;
- to the one-year,
- full-time,
- in-person MSc program at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) in London are eligible.
Applications for any of LSHTM’s non-distance learning intensive Masters programs are eligible for the GSK scholarship; however, our joint programs in MSc Global Mental Health, MSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing, MSc One Health, and MSc Veterinary Epidemiology are not eligible.
Before the scholarship deadline, both the study application and the scholarship application should have been submitted.
Qualifications for the London School of Hygiene GSK Scholarship 2024
In order to be eligible for the GSK Scholarship, candidates need to:
- be citizens of and residents of countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
- intend to return there after completing their MSc year at LSHTM.
- attest, by completing the Scholarships Application Form, that they would not be able to pay for the proposed program of study.
- meet the minimum English language requirements of LSHTM.
- possess a first degree at the first or upper-second-class equivalency level.
- hold an offer of admission for one of LSHTM’s intensive MSc programs of study in London.

What the scholarship will pay for is:
- tuition costs, which include the cost of any required field trips, and
- a tax-free stipend (living allowance) of GBP 19,500.00.
